One-on-One Photo Sessions

Shooting side-by-side with a professional photographer is one of the best, and certainly one of the fastest ways to step up to a new world of photography. It is a great way to "up your game" and fine tune your skills!

As valuable as classes and seminars are, there is nothing quite like learning photography one-on-one with a professional photographer at your side. Not only do you learn a lot by watching what the photographer does and how, you can ask questions and get tons of help and advice. You don't have to wait your turn while 20 other people clamor for a workshop leader's attention.

Jim has the ideal combination of practical photo experience and extensive teaching and field trip experience to provide an informative and inspiring learning experience.

Jim has 19 years experience teaching photography. He leads photography workshops for The Ohio State University and he has taught at Graceland University (Iowa) and the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts (Michigan). Some of Jim's former students are now shooting professionally. He leads several photography workshops and field trips every year and has worked with hundreds of photographers at all skill levels. Jim is the author of Digital Photography Exposure for Dummies, one of the highest rated photography books at Amazon.com

Jim is an experienced nature, portrait, event, and commercial photographer. His work has been published by the National Wildlife Federation, Black and White magazine, Ohio Sea Grant, The Ohio State University, Graceland University, Stone Laboratory, Crowne Plaza Hotels, Staybridge Suites, Best Western Hotels, The MichMatist, The Herald, Holiday Inn Hotels, Hunt's Guide to the Upper Peninsula, Kirtland Temple Historic Site, KOA Campgrounds, Camp Manitou, Camp Bountiful,  Magic 106.3, UNCF (United Negro College Fund), Wiley Publishing, Inc., the Yukon Review, Community of Christ, Presbyterian Church (PCUSA), Terrapin World Imports and dozens of business too numerous to list here. His work can be found in books, magazines, newspapers, calendars, tourist brochures, bulletins, corporate reports, and the web sites for businesses and not-for-profit organizations.

Your one-on-one sessions take place at your choice of a variety of locations around  Columbus Ohio. Jim is also available on an occasional basis in Kansas City Missouri, Denver Colorado, and Rocky Mountain National Park. Jim's rate is $300 for a half day (5 hours) or $75 per hour.
